HODGES Designs Third New York Cinema

HODGES Architecture has completed its third cinema project in the New York City area with the opening of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema- Brooklyn. This project follows the 28 Liberty location in Manhattan and the Staten Island cinema complex.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas was recently purchased by Sony Pictures, and the Brooklyn juggernaut is one of the top performers in the chain.

“What makes these projects so challenging and exciting is the fact that Brooklyn is on the fourth and fifth floors of the 500,000 SF City Point Brooklyn project, The Staten Island cinema is on the second mezzanine floor of the 400,000 SF Boulevard Project by, Kimco, and the 28 Liberty Project in Lower Manhattan occupies the second sub-basement and third sub-basement of the 60-story 28 Liberty Office Tower in the financial district. What a great puzzle to figure out and design in each of those locations! That is what makes these cinemas a challenge to create.” Said Charles Hodges, Owner of Hodges Architecture.

HODGES Entertainment Group has designed over 60 theaters nationally, including some of the largest complexes in the United States.

“The Cinema and entertainment business continue to evolve, and HODGES designs evolve with it. Designing buildings for family entertainment is a privilege for a firm such as ours.” Said Charles Hodges
